NEW CLEAN ENERGY is an immersive theatre piece set in an alternate near-reality where nuclear energy is the primary global power source. Live nuclear weapons testing is revived from its Cold War hibernation, dominating the geopolitical landscape as tensions ratchet up between the US…and every other nation. It is a dark comedy closer to the truth than perhaps is funny, heightened by a surreal adaptation of all life responding to the radioactive environment around it. Points and objects of history are pulled forward to a present day just beyond this one where de/escalation is the game and (for some) survival is the question. Is there a better way? What can we do from where we are? Will it be the end if all else fails? What happens to the planet in the twilight of half-life?
